Any avocado toast lovers out there?? If you havenโt hopped onto this breakfast lovers trend yet, time to give it a try!
You may be thinkingโฆ what more is there to this recipe other than mashed avocado and toasted bread? Well this isnโt just any avocado toast. Itโs elevated with a special garlic technique. Plus, itโs completely customizable with 4 different recipe variations, so you can experiment with your favorite toast toppings.
Use whole garlic cloves for major flavor
The key to elevating this savory toast is to rub whole garlic cloves on the bread for serious flavor. When my roommate first showed me this trick, my mind was blown. So simple yet completely transforms the toast.
All you do is simply toast your bread and then rub whole, peeled garlic cloves over the toast while itโs still hot. If you need a visual, check out the video below.
To make peeling the garlic easier, cut off the woody end of the clove and then use your hands to peel the thin layers away. No mincing needed. You likely wonโt need the whole garlic clove so you can wrap up any extra and store it in the fridge for the next time you make toast.
You wonโt even miss the typical butter on toastโโthis garlic technique mimics the same creamy, decadent flavor that butter gives. Plus, garlic is rich in vitamin C, vitamin B6 and manganese, without the saturated fat.
If you have a garlic odor left on your fingers, simply rub your hands across a stainless steel utensil or faucet to remove the smell.
Avocado everything
As basic as it is, I am an avocado fanatic. I add avocado to just about everything. Buddha bowls, salads, sandwichesโyou name it. This pitted fruit supplies plenty of healthy fats and boosts satiety to keep you fuller longer. Here are some other ideas for adding avocado to your day.
- Layer slices on top of grain bowls for a creamy texture
- Dip in breadcrumbs and bake to make avocado fries
- Cube and add on top of fruit and nut salads
- Add your own mashed avocado to subs and burrito bowls to avoid the extra cost
- Or put on top of heavenly garlic toast like in this recipe!
Customize this avocado toast and enjoy it your way
Mix it up and choose which toast option you like best.
