Why youโll love it
There’s something irresistibly satisfying about these sliders. Picture this: succulent beef, melted provolone cheese, and crisp greens, all sandwiched between the sweet Hawaiian rolls. Itโs truly a flavor explosion in every bite!
These sliders are incredibly easy to make too. Perfect for lazy lunches, quick dinners, or even a delightful addition to your party menu.
Are roast beef sliders healthy?
We’re all about balance here at Cheerful Choices. So while these sliders are definitely decadent, itโs also still a way to reach your protein goals while also sneaking in some greens. For a balanced meal, we recommend serving these slides alongside other nutrient-packed sides like a quinoa salad, veggies and hummus, or roasted squash.
What ingredients do you need?
- Hawaiian Rolls: These sweet, soft buns add a delightful contrast to the savory fillings. For a bit of extra fiber, you can also opt for whole grain slider buns.
- Sauce of Your Choice: Whether it’s light mayo, zesty horseradish, or classic gravy, your sauce sets the flavor tone. Opt for low-fat options to keep it healthy.
- Provolone Cheese: Melted provolone adds a creamy texture that complements the beef’s flavor.
- Cooked Beef: Roast beef slices or any tender cut work wonders. You can prepare these in advance or use leftovers for a quick meal. Here, weโre using leftover beef tenderloin. You could also swap for another meat like cooked and sliced turkey or chicken.
- Leafy Greens: Choose your favorite greens, such as crisp spinach or peppery arugula. These provide a burst of freshness and essential nutrients.
Can you use beef tenderloin?
We love using leftover beef tenderloin for this recipe because it’s super tender. Beef tenderloin is often served during the holidays but it always makes a HUGE amount. If you have leftovers you’re looking to transform, look no further than these sliders!
How do you make these roast beef sliders?
Whether youโre making a tenderloin sandwich or using roast beef, hereโs how to make it:
- Slice Slider Buns: Carefully halve the Hawaiian rolls horizontally.
- Spread the Sauce: On the bottom halves, spread your chosen sauce generously.
- Add Provolone: Place a folded provolone slice on the sauced buns.
- Layer the Beef: Add 2 ounces of cooked beef on top of the cheese.
- Add Greens: Finish with a handful of your selected leafy greens.
- Top and Secure: Place the other half of the bun on the greens and gently press down. Secure your slider with a toothpick.
Optional cooking step
If you prefer a warmer slider, we recommend heating it up after preparing it. Here are the two methods to try:
- Air fry the slider at 350ยบF for 4-5 minutes until cheese is melted and meat is warmed through. Keep an eye on this one as the slider bun can quickly go from toasted to burnt.
- Bake in a toaster oven or regular oven at 350ยบF for 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and meat is warmed through.
Recipe tips and tricks
- Serving Tips: Pair these sliders with a crisp salad, sweet potato fries, or a refreshing fruit platter.
- Troubleshooting Tips: If your sliders are feeling a bit dry, a drizzle of olive oil on the beef before assembly can add moisture. Too messy? Wrap your sliders in parchment paper for a neater eating experience.
- Scaling Tips: Easily double or triple the recipe for parties. Hawaiian rolls come in packs of 12 so if you tripled the recipe youโll end up using all 12 buns!
Customize it your way
Like all of my other recipes here at Cheerful Choices, these sliders are completely customizable. You get to choose what sauce and greens you want to use. Here are some ideas:
- Sauce of your choice: Light mayo, horseradish, mustard, gravy, barbecue sauce, or a creamy aioli are all welcome here! Feel free to use more than 1 teaspoon per slider if you like things saucier.
- Greens of your choice: If youโre heating up the slider, I recommend using a green that still tastes good when wilted slightly such as spinach, arugula, or kale. Otherwise, you could also use a more delicate green like butter lettuce or romaine leaves.
Making roast beef sliders ahead of time
These sliders are incredibly convenient as you can prepare them up to 1 day before your special occasion. If warming them up, wait to cook them until right before serving.
How do I store leftovers?
Store your leftover sliders in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the fridge.
