What are baked oats?
Baked Oats have been around for a while but really took off on TikTok. It’s one of those viral recipes like TikTok wraps or feta pasta.
Baked oats is essentially the idea of blending oats and other ingredients into a batter then baking until fluffy. It’s the perfect cozy breakfast for the colder months or any time of the year, really! It’s been on repeat in my house.
Are baked oats healthy?
Take it from this dietitian–baked oats are definitely a healthy option to enjoy for breakfast. Most recipes include wholesome ingredients like rolled oats, healthy-fats, naturally sweetened fruit, and calcium-rich milk.
Rolled oats are especially healthy as they are considered a whole grain. This means it contains energy-boosting carbohydrates alongside beneficial fiber and B vitamins.
Is this recipe allergy friendly?
Yes! This recipe fits all dietary preferences or allergies including nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. But trust me, it’s not flavor free!
Most baked oats recipes include some kind of nut butter, but this recipe is completely nut-free thanks to Banzo Butter!
What is Banzo Butter?
This product is a game changer. It’s a creamy butter made from garbanzo beans. Having garbanzo beans as the main ingredients makes it packed with protein. Banzo Butter adds a touch of sweetener for the best taste while keeping it low in sugar.
It comes in strawberry, original, chocolate, pumpkin spice, and mint chocolate chip flavors! My personal favorite is the strawberry–that’s why I’m using it for this healthy baked oatmeal for one! Banzo Butter is also ideal for spreading over toast, adding to stuffed dates, or drizzling over yogurt parfaits!
Plus, you can feel good about your purchase because this is a small, women-owned business. The owner, Amy, is passionate about creating high quality, tasty products that fit all dietary needs. So awesome!

How do you make baked oats for one?
This baked oats recipe looks impressive but it’s so easy to make. Let’s break it down:
- Gather your ingredients. This recipe calls for 8 simple ingredients you likely have sitting around in your pantry.
- Blend everything together. Use a food processor or small blender to blend everything together into a batter-like consistency.
- Bake to fluffy perfection. Pour over a greased ramekin before adding to a preheated oven or toaster oven. If you don’t have a ramekin, you can also use a small oven safe bowl. I’ve actually tested microwaving these baked oats too–and it works! It’s a similar concept to a mug cake. Simply microwave for 2 minutes until fluffy and cooked through. Do note, this method makes it a bit more dry though.
- Add over toppings. I cannot get enough of this Strawberry Banzo Butter! I always drizzle over a good amount on top.
Customize it your way
Like all of my other recipes, this baked oats recipe is completely customizable. You get to choose what ingredient you want to use.
- Banzo Butter of your choice – I love using the strawberry but you could also use the original, chocolate, or pumpkin spice flavor.
- Milk of your choice – Feel free to use your preferred milk. Any type works great!
- Berries of your choice – I’m using strawberries but you could also use blackberries, raspberries, or blueberries.
Pick any toppings of your choice
Feel free to get creative with the toppings too. Here’s some inspiration:
- Yogurt of your choice (regular or vegan-friendly)
- Chocolate chips
- Toasted coconut
- More fresh berries
- Sliced banana
- Sliced dates
- Crunchy granola
Can I make more than one serving?
Yes! Feel free to double or quadruple the recipe to serve more people. Making more is also a great option to have all your breakfasts ready to go throughout the week.
Can I make this baked oats recipe ahead of time?
Yes! Feel free to whip up the oats batter and store in the ramekin for up to 2 days in the fridge until you are ready to bake. Then, bake and you have a delicious breakfast without any prep work! If you have any leftovers after baking the oats, you can store these in the fridge for up to 5 days and reheat in the microwave.

Hey! I’ve tried many baked oats recipes, but they never cook well! They always stay wet on the inside (like porridge consistency) no matter how long they stay in the oven
Any ideas?
Hi there! I’d love for you to give this baked oats recipe and try and see if you get a different outcome. When you have baked oats for 20-25 minutes in the oven + letting it cool, this should give it enough time to firm up into more of a cake-like texture. You could also try microwaving this recipe for 2 minutes–this actually tends to make the baked oats a bit more dry if this is the texture you prefer. Let me know if you try it out. 🙂
